6 KITCHEN SKILLS FOR KIDS (WHAT TO PASS ON)

August 19, 2024 by cadonat8 4 Comments

As a mother of two, I feel it is my responsibility to pass on skills so they know how to thrive on their own. What I really want to pass on is skills in the kitchen. Learning how to thrive in a kitchen is priceless knowledge and one that will bless them as well as others. Here is a guide of 6 kitchen skills for kids.

KITCHEN SKILLS FOR KIDS

1. SOURDOUGH STARTER

Thank you Lisa from Farmhouse on Boone for making a starter easy! Now when my kids move out, I want to bless them with a fresh sourdough starter. While they are in my home, I want to teach them how to use sourdough starter.

  • Active Recipes: Sandwich bread, dinner rolls, hot dog and hamburger buns.
  • Discard Recipes: Cheddar biscuits, tortillas, and waffles.

Most importantly I want to teach them how to maintain a starter. I am still learning this but I watch this for inspiration and tips.

2. CAST IRON

If all my kids learn to cook on is a cast iron skillet, I will say I succeeded in my goal. It is the most versatile pan in the kitchen. It can be used for mostly anything.

This is great! My kids are older teenagers now and teaching them skills never goes away. Have fun with it and enjoy having them in the kitchen with you.
