LAMP LIGHT
A cheap and easy way to make your current kitchen cozy is with lamp light. At night as I shut down my kitchen, I like to have a lamp on. The warm light sets the tone that it is night time and I’ll be going to bed soon. I like to believe warm light starts melatonin production for a better night sleep than bright task lighting.
A KITCHEN TABLE
I believe a table in the center of the kitchen is more comforting and inviting than an island. But if you have an island, no problem. Set it like a table.
FRESH FLOWERS
Add instant charm with fresh flowers. Since it is summer, I went out to my garden and picked some fresh flowers and put them on my table. If it isn’t summer, a vase full of a bouquet from the grocery store will do the trick! Or greenery such as evergreens.
A LIT CANDLE
Having a candle lit on the stove adds warm light to the kitchen. At night, I like to turn off the harsh fluorescent lights and turn on warm lights. I explained earlier about warm lighting at night with lamp light. Candlelight can do the same thing!
A BOWL OF FRUIT
Display healthy food choices on the counter. I am currently using a glass mixing bowl for the mixer because it broke on the bottom and won’t lock in the stand mixer. But it works great displaying apples and bananas. “I like to eat, eat, eat, apples and bananas.” I spend too much time listening to kids’ songs.
My mom always put tomatoes she bought at fruit stands on her kitchen window. I have always loved that simple decoration and it feels simple and fun like summer.
